Doing the Poker Chip Shuffle
Is that a new retro dance move? Aspiring dancers need not read on, because unfortunately it isn’t. If you are one who spends time on the poker table then you will want to try this out. More than a flashy move, you can impress your opponents (or provide onlookers with some entertainment) with a sleight of hand, quick dexterity and flare. The shuffle is a popular trick usually done by casino dealers. Imagine shuffling cards, but instead of cards, you use poker chips. It is actually quite easy to do once you get the hang of it. Don’t get frustrated when you fail the first time. Mastery demands practice so keep at it until you have it perfected.
Of course to do the shuffle you will need poker chips. However, you can’t just go and use any chip. Heavy, high-quality chips like the 10g ProGen Poker Chips are the ones you want to start with since these are thicker and have softer, worn edges. As you gain more experience, you can move on to the plastic chips for a high speed shuffle.
To shuffle the chips, simply place your right and left fingers on the right and left stack pile respectively and hold them as if they were cards. With your middle fingers, gently push the bottom chips of the stack and squeeze them together. Once you’ve combined both piles, stroke the stack with your hands to even and center the chips in the stack. Congratulations, you’ve done the shuffle.
For more bravado, try using different colored chips or designs. The spotlight will surely be on you during poker games.
