The Games Room Phenomenon

Posted by admin | Poker Supplies | Friday 26 June 2009 6:40 am

All men dream of one thing when they get to a certain age. In fact I think they may dream about it long before this age! This dream that they have is not of world peace or for global famine to be wiped out, oh no. For them it is something far more important, more personal to them, something that is much closer to home. This, is the games product image 1945 The Games Room Phenomenonroom. Almost all men wish for a room in their house that is completely theirs and that they are free to be men, gruff, sweaty, free men. Some men even get their dream, those who are able to afford a spare room just for them (and fight all other family members for it), or maybe these men have acquired a new spare room due to a child going off to college. They aren’t bothered how they get it because once they do have it they are already thinking of ways to fill it. Of course there is the pin ball machine and then there’s pool table as well (did I mention that this room does need to be quite big?). Then there are the poker accessories such as the poker table, poker chairs, spot light, felt, card shuffler, poker chips complete with display case for when they aren’t in use, you get the idea. If you have one of these men in your life whether they are a brother, father, granddad even, why not indulge their little fantasy and buy them some poker decor? A classic all wood poker room sign is a perfect gift for anyone’s games room. A note of warning though. This product can also be used for “rubbing salt into the wound” if you have a loved one who can’t afford a games room.

Practice Makes Poker

Posted by admin | Poker Strategy | Wednesday 24 June 2009 4:37 pm

If you are thinking about playing poker for the very first time it can be a bit daunting. Poker does look like a very cool game when it’s being played in the movies. Men sat in dark room with red lights, cigars and sweat pouring off product image 1500 Practice Makes Pokertheir brows really makes it look like a tense and serious game. In all honesty is it not always what it is made to look like in the movies.

Poker can be fun and easy to play when you have the right poker supplies and know how. Poker is the sort of game that is played by young college students , older retired people and everything in between. You don’t have to be male or have a fortune to lose. In fact you could even play for matchsticks! Poker is a great way to while away the evenings with friends or an hour with just the two of you. If you are serious about learning to play poker you will have to swot up first. I would recommend The Big Book Of Poker by Ken Warren. Poker books are a fantastic way to learn to play poker, although DVD’s do use a more interactive way of learning. Along with an instructional poker book you may also want to invest in some accessories such as a new deck of cards, poker table and even a card shuffler! All of these will make it feel like you are really playing a proper game long before you really are. They also help with the visual aspect of things as you are more likely to learn in a real setting. So what are you waiting for? Get those cards out and start practicing!

In Times Of Recession, Play Poker!

In times of recession not all of us can afford to continue with the lifestyle we have become accustomed to. We are tested financially and something usually has to give. We use less fuel, reduce our heating bills, even start shopping more frugally. But the biggest thing that is affected is our spare time. When people used to be able to pay out on product image 2584 In Times Of Recession, Play Poker!holidays, dinners, and generally going out, we are now trying to save a bit of money by staying in. Of course it’s never the same but you can always try to imitate the night you were going to have on a budget by doing it indoors. Off to the movies? Why not grab some popcorn and a DVD and settle down on the couch for the evening? Going out for a slap up meal? Why not take the time with your loved one and cook a meal together. It will taste better knowing that you had made it and you can chat the night away while frying on the stove! There are many ways that you can have a good night in and not become in the red! Why not get all of your friends round for dinner, they can bring a dish each, or even get them round for a poker night (betting with matches of course) with just some poker supplies. You could buy a set of poker chips for less than $40 and have a great night to boot. Try the 100 10G sopranos all clay poker chips with mahogany case to get your poker night started and who knows you could even make it a weekly thing!

What’s Your Hobby?

Posted by admin | Poker Supplies, Poker Tables | Monday 22 June 2009 4:30 pm

product image 1892 What’s Your Hobby?Hobbies and interests can be a rewarding way to spend your spare time but you have to pick your hobby wisely. It is not just about loving your hobby, no it’s much much more. When people pick hobbies they go with the things that interest them and what they love. For some people it’s reading a good book, for others its white water rafting. If you are an active sort of person then your hobby is likely to include adrenaline or the outdoors. If you are more of a peaceful person your hobby may be collecting or reading. Some people choose their hobbies on the amount of time that can be dedicated to it. If you only have one hour a week you won’t be trekking across any mountains, likewise if you have a whole weekend spare you’re not likely to be spending the whole time knitting.  Hobbies can be an individual thing or can be for a group of people. Riding a horse can only be done by one person while playing a game of poker takes more than one person. When you have decided on your hobby you will need all of the accessories. For example a poker player will want poker furniture and items such as a 9 row chip tray to hold their poker chips, thus completing their poker experience. Whichever hobby you choose to take up, think about three things. How much time do you have? How much spare cash do you have? And finally what do you really enjoy doing? Once you’ve answered those you will definitely have your perfect hobby.

No Chip on Your Shoulder

Posted by admin | Poker Chips, Poker Chips Sets | Wednesday 17 June 2009 1:44 pm

product image 2266 No Chip on Your ShoulderPoker chips are as good as cash on the poker table. They are a pretty good gauge of whether you are good at the game or if you should think about just packing up your stuff, driving home and just stay there. Most poker players are superstitious and they like things done a certain way. Sometimes they think that is just one thing is altered on the poker table, their luck might change. That is why most poker players are quite choosy when it comes to their poker supplies, particularly their poker chips.

The 200 Las Vegas Edgespot Nexgen chips with aluminum clear top case are good home gaming chips. They are standard sized poker chips and have the feel of real clay chips, which makes the poker player have the experience of Vegas even in the comfort of his home. Even the sound resembles real clay chips, which is why this is a good choice when purchasing poker chips for leisure.

The aluminum clear top case makes it easier to track if you’ve lost a chip. The design of the case is elegant and the material is durable. You can be sure that this will survive wear and tear even for several years. It is also lightweight so even if the case is filled with chips, you know you can still carry it around.

You can tell that the production of these chips was well-thought of. Definitely, you will not have a chip on your shoulder when you decide to buy these poker chips.

Time is Gold

Posted by admin | poker clocks | Tuesday 16 June 2009 6:59 am

Poker is a game of wit, endurance, strategy, and most of all, patience. Poker games could last for hours, even days. Poker players invest a lot of their time in mastering the game. They watch other poker players, they play endlessly, they talk about, dream about it, live it. The game is more of a mind game rather than skill. And because the game could last for hours, it is good to keep track of time using this beautifully designed poker clock.

product image 2123 Time is GoldThe design of the Texas Hold’em neon wall clock is attractive and the light on the face of the clock makes it easier to read even if the room is a little dark. This would be perfect in any game room. The color green would complement most common poker tables or even billiard tables. The markers on the face of the clock are poker chips, which perfectly accentuates the clock. The clock has a classic design and would fit in typical game room designs or decors.

Most game rooms are a bit dark. The double ring of neon would illuminate any room, making it easier for the players to check out the time. The chrome finish molded resin housing makes the clock durable compared to plastic housings. Aside from aesthetics, you are also assured of function. The quartz mechanism guarantees that the time is accurate so you won’t skip a beat. The clock is also battery operated so it is economical and does not consume electricity.

So, if you want to keep track of the time of your games, this clock would be perfect. After all, in poker, time is really gold.

Dear Old Nan Loves Playing Cards

Posted by admin | Playing Cards | Friday 12 June 2009 11:10 am

product image 1770 Dear Old Nan Loves Playing Cards

My dear old Nan is brilliant. I love her to bits! Every time I go over to see her she gives me a great big hug and slips some money in my back pocket!

She has embraced her old age with much enthusiasm. She does more activities now than she did when she was younger (or so she tells me). She has joined a knitting circle, started going on over 60’s cruises and even goes on date nights! Her favorite activity though has to be lounging on the poker tables. She is actually the only woman who plays in her neighborhood, the rest are men. But she still kicks ass! She did tell me however that she was having a bit of difficulty shuffling the playing cards due to her arthritis. I thought it only fair that I spent some of that money she kept slipping into my back pocket on a card shuffler. The 6-Deck Card Shuffler is automatic so she doesn’t have to worry about her fingers hurting or her joints seizing up! She loves it and uses it at all of her poker nights, even though she is the envy of her friends.

Now she’s telling me that she’s going to go on a casino themed, over 60’s singles cruise! Talk about right up her street! One good thing is she won’t have to take her card shuffler along with her as they’ll have hunky (yet slightly old) men to do that for her! Let’s hope she comes home with more than her poker winnings!

Miles Away From The Day Job

Posted by admin | Poker Strategy | Wednesday 10 June 2009 11:05 am

I love playing poker. It is my one little vice in life. It is the only thing that I do that really lets me escape from everything. And I’ve got a lot to escape from.

I work as a counselor in an institute. I hear about all the terrible things that people do and help them come to terms with it. It can be quite hard work and really drains you of all your emotion sometimes, but other times it can beer rewarding to see someone admit what they’ve done and feel bad about it. The worst case I ever had was a guy who just couldn’t see that he wasn’t well. It took me months for him to even agree that he was in an institute. I chipped away very slowly and eventually he admitted me was poorly and that he needed help. We worked through his issues and he was even released. Unfortunately he wasn’t too keen on the outside world and promptly asked to be re admitted.

product image 1803 Miles Away From The Day JobAnyway, poker is my way of escaping from all that and there is nothing I like better than sitting back with my buddies drinking a cold beer and having a good old game of poker. I have even invested in poker tables! Well a poker tabletop anyway, the 8 player octagonal table top to be precise. Now when I play poker I really feel like I’m in a casino and a million miles away from my real life.
